ITALIAN SANTO OF ST. ANTHONY WITH CHRIST CHILD
St. Anthony, patron saint of lost articles, fertility, starvation, expectant mothers, amputees, and shipwrecks, is represented in this charming 18th century or early 19th century santo of carved and polychrome painted wood. St. Anthony is holding the Christ child. Condition is good with some loss of polychrome and gesso. Marked on the base "Found in Vicenza, Italy."
Height 13 1/2 inches. Base measures 2 5/8 by 4 3/4 inches.
