METTLACH POTTERY PUG BEER STEIN 2177
A pottery Mettlach stein, .25L, form 2177, 960 decoration, date code of 1895, PUG, pewter lid. A musician playing a Lute is lying down on the grassy little hill and two birds are next to him on a limb. This is a PUG (print under glaze) stein. Marked on the bottom with the incised "abbey" mark--Mettlach (Villeroy and Boch), circa 1883-1931. The name Mettlach refers specifically to the factory of Villeroy and Boch in the small town of Mettlach. The word "Geschutzt" appears in brown ink, which means the piece is copyrighted. Marked 1/4L on top rim near handle. In great condition.
