LYING (RECUMBENT) STAFFORDSHIRE SPANIELS PAIR
This pair of lying or recumbent Spaniels show a winsome, obedient expression, which makes one imagine that their masters might have just issued the command, "Down!" Usually produced in facing pairs. The tail curls inward and one front paw appealingly is turned outward. Wears the characteristic collar, padlock, and chain. Nicely decorated face and black paws. Very little gold decoration. Measures 6 1/4 inches high and 9 inches long. Circa 1850. In excellent condition with the usual glaze crazing.
